Instagram Transcript Generator
Paste an Instagram video or Reel link and get the spoken words back as clean, copyable text — plus subtitle files you can import straight into your editor.
How it works
From link to transcript in three steps
- 01
Copy the Instagram link
Open the post, tap the three dots (or Share) and choose Copy link. Reels and feed videos both work, as do /reel/ and /p/ URLs.
- 02
Paste it into the box above
Paste the URL and press Grab the Script. Instagram is detected from the link automatically.
- 03
Copy or download the transcript
Read the full text or use the timestamped view, then download TXT, SRT or VTT for captions, editing or archiving.
Instagram video has no transcript button
An Instagram transcript is the complete spoken text of a video or Reel. Instagram will happily let you watch a 60-second Reel in which someone explains an entire idea — and then give you no way to reuse those words. There is no caption track on a Reel, and Instagram does not expose a transcript feature for feed videos either.
An Instagram transcript generator closes that gap. Paste a link and the spoken script comes back as text within seconds, which turns a video you can only watch into content you can read, quote, translate and repurpose. For anything you republish, Instagram’s Terms of Use keep the rights with the original creator.
Reels, feed videos and carousels with video
A carousel post is a multi-image post that can also carry video. Everything Instagram publishes as video is supported: Reels, feed posts and carousel posts that contain a video. Carousel posts that are images only have nothing to transcribe, so they will return a no-speech message.
The same three-step flow covers every format. Because the transcript is returned with segment timestamps, you can also use it to build your own captions instead of typing timing by hand — download SRT or VTT and import it into CapCut, Premiere or DaVinci Resolve.
What it costs, and what happens when it fails
One Instagram video costs one credit — from about $0.01. Free accounts get 5 credits every week, and a failed extraction never spends one: private accounts, deleted posts and region-blocked videos return a clear error while the credit stays in your account. Repeat grabs of the same video within 30 days are free.
One credit covers the text plus all three download formats, so you can re-read a transcript as many times as you like.
FAQ
Instagram Transcript Generator FAQ
How do I get a transcript from an Instagram Reel?
Open the Reel, tap Share (or the three-dot menu) and choose Copy link, then paste it into the form on this page. Press Grab the Script and the transcript appears within seconds as copyable text.
Can I transcribe an Instagram video post, not just a Reel?
Yes. Feed video posts and carousels that contain a video are supported alongside Reels. Image-only posts have no audio and cannot produce a transcript.
Is the Instagram transcript free?
You can try it free — free accounts get 5 credits every week and your first grabs need no login. After that it is 1 credit per video (from about $0.01).
What happens if an Instagram video cannot be transcribed?
According to Instagram’s Help Center, private accounts choose who can see their posts — those, plus deleted and region-blocked videos, cannot be fetched. You get a specific error message and no credit is spent, so a dead link costs you nothing.
Can I download subtitles for my own Instagram video?
Yes. The timestamped export downloads as SRT or VTT, which import directly into CapCut, Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve for burned-in or soft subtitles. VTT is a W3C standard and SRT (SubRip) is the oldest widely supported subtitle format.
