Why you want the words behind a Reel
A Reel transcript is the word-for-word text of everything said in a Reel. A Reel can carry an entire argument in 15 seconds of fast talking, and Instagram gives you none of it in text. If you are studying why a Reel worked, quoting it, translating it or turning it into a carousel, you need the script — not a memory of what you watched.
Pulling the Reel transcript turns a passive watch into usable material. You can search inside it, compare it against another Reel, and reuse the structure without inventing a new hook from scratch every time. When you republish, Instagram’s Terms of Use still apply to the original creator’s words.
Transcribe a Reel in about fifteen seconds
Open the Reel, hit Share → Copy link, paste it into the form and press the button. Transcription runs in the background and the script is usually back in under 15 seconds — before you have switched tabs.
If a Reel is longer or the service is busy, the form keeps polling and shows progress, so you can leave the tab open without losing the result. Each Reel costs one credit — from about $0.01 — and free accounts get 5 credits every week. Repeat grabs of the same video within 30 days are free.
Reels transcripts come with real timings
An SRT file is a plain-text subtitle file with one timestamped block per line of speech. Every segment carries its own timestamp, so the download is more than a wall of text. Import the SRT or VTT into your editor and you get a caption track that matches the spoken pacing of the original Reel.
Private Reels and reels from accounts you do not have access to cannot be fetched — the tool tells you so plainly, and no credit is spent on the attempt.
FAQ
Instagram Reel Transcript FAQ
Can I transcribe a private Instagram Reel?
No. Only public Reels can be fetched. According to Instagram’s Help Center, private accounts and close-friends posts are restricted to approved viewers — those and deleted Reels return a clear error and no credit is charged.
Does the Reel transcript include timestamps?
Yes. Every segment is timestamped, and you can switch to the timestamped tab or download SRT / VTT to get a real caption track for your editor — VTT is a W3C standard and SRT (SubRip) is the oldest widely supported subtitle format.
How long does it take to transcribe a Reel?
Most Reels come back in a few seconds. Longer clips or busy periods take a little longer — the form polls until the result is ready and shows progress meanwhile.
Is there a limit on how many Reels I can transcribe?
It is one credit per Reel — from about $0.01. If an extraction fails the credit stays in your account, so only successful grabs are paid for. Free accounts get 5 credits every week.
