How it works

From link to transcript in three steps

  1. 01

    Copy the Facebook video link

Open the video, choose Share or Copy link. Regular facebook.com/watch links, /reels/ links and fb.watch short links all work.

  2. 02

Paste it into the box above

Paste the URL and press Grab the Script. Facebook is detected automatically from the link.

  3. 03

    Copy or download the transcript

Read the full text or switch to the timestamped view, then download TXT, SRT or VTT.

Facebook video is everywhere except where you need it

A Facebook video transcript is the full text of every word spoken in a Facebook video or Reel. Interview clips, webinar cuts and customer stories get posted to Facebook and then become nearly impossible to reuse: the audio is baked into the video and there is no caption track to copy. If you want the words for a quote, a blog post, a newsletter or a subtitled repost, today that means watching and typing.

A Facebook video transcript turns any of those into text in seconds. It is the same flow you already use for TikTok and Instagram, so nothing new to learn — just paste the link and read. For reuse beyond research, Meta’s Terms of Service keep rights with the original poster.

Reels, Watch and regular feed video

All public Facebook video formats are supported, including short Reels, Watch pages and ordinary feed videos. Videos shared into groups you are not a member of, or posts that have been made followers-only, cannot be fetched.

Because the transcript keeps segment timings, you can use the SRT or VTT download as a starting caption track for your own edit instead of building the timing by hand in your editor.

One credit per video, nothing charged when it fails

A Facebook video transcript costs one credit — from about $0.01 — and a failed extraction never spends it: the credit stays in your account and you get a specific error explaining why the video could not be read. Free accounts get 5 credits every week, and repeat grabs of the same video within 30 days are free.

One credit covers the plain text plus all three subtitle formats, so you can re-read the transcript as often as you like without paying twice.

FAQ

Facebook Video Transcript FAQ

How do I get a transcript from a Facebook video?

Open the video, tap Share and choose Copy link, paste the URL into the form on this page and press Grab the Script. The spoken words come back as copyable text within seconds.

Does it work for Facebook Reels and fb.watch links?

Yes. Facebook Reels, regular watch links and short fb.watch links are all supported, alongside ordinary feed video posts.

Why can't some Facebook videos be transcribed?

According to Facebook’s Help Center, followers-only posts and private-group videos are restricted to their audience — those and region-blocked content cannot be fetched. The tool shows an explicit error for these and no credit is spent.

What formats can I download?

TXT for reading and rewriting, plus SRT and VTT subtitle files with timestamps that import into Premiere, CapCut or DaVinci Resolve — VTT is a W3C standard and SRT (SubRip) is the oldest widely supported subtitle format. All three come from the same single credit — from about $0.01, with 5 free credits every week for free accounts.
